Portland, Oregon New Law To Increase Auto Insurance Rates

PORTLAND, Ore. -A new law enacted by the Oregon Legislature that takes effect Saturday will change the way auto insurance claims involving injuries and uninsured drivers are paid by insurers. SB 411 Increases Motor Vehicle Insurance by $55 per year. SB 411 changes requirements for two insurance policy types: Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM). Drivers in Oregon are required by law to carry at least minimum limits of both policy types, in addition to Liability insurance. (Drivers in Washington, Idaho and California are only required to have Liability insurance – the other coverages are optional.) Under the new law, the benefit period for payment of PIP benefits has doubled from one year to two.

Oregon DHS $60 Million Lawsuit, Officials Fired

DHS has been under unrelenting attack since a series of media reports last year showed how the department had let a foster care agency remain open for years despite complaints. There is also a federal investigation into financial oversight. Last Friday, the department was hit by a $60 million lawsuit charging officials allowed two children under their supervision to endure severe starvation.

Our Oregon Website Funded by PERS has Multi-Billion $$ Sales Tax on Ballot

The measure, backed by Our Oregon, is designed to raised $2.5 billion a year by taxing corporations with Oregon sales over $25 million annually. Our Oregon, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit that gets much of its funding from public employee unions, made small in-kind contributions to related political action committees working on tax increase measures over the course 2015, totaling $150,000. Meanwhile, the business-backed group formed to counteract Our Oregon, called Grow Oregon, is going on the offensive. Grow Oregon Now has begun canvassing businesses and chambers of commerce around the state in an effort to build opposition to the tax hikes.

WHERE IS CARLA CASTANO?? KOIN 6 NEWS. WHAT HAPPENED??

The most important investigative reporter in Portland. Due to her investigations she got the Seaside Sex Convenvention
cancelled last year due to her continuous reporting. But who will be on the Adolescent Sexuality Conference this year??
Carla broke the story on the DHS supported Day care Center run by dopers smoking pot while the students played outside. Let’s not forget the inhumane treatment of Portlands Packy, the Asian Elephant, and all the other elephants
that were beaten and ripped on with a “Bull Hook” and forced to mate with their offspring to produce elephants for sale.
I’m afraid to think what missed corruption will take place without Carla Castano’s vigilate investigations. KOIN 6 news lost a truly great reporter when they let Carla go. Investigative journalism will never be the same at KOIN 6 without her.

Oregon’s 2015 Legislative Session Most Anti-Business Friendly in History

Inside Oregon’s new retirement savings program HB 2960 signed into Law by Governor Kate Brown creates a new Oregon Retirement Savings Board in the office of State Treasurer Ted Wheeler and directs board to develop a 3% payroll deduction retirement plan for folks employed in Oregon. The Oregon Retirement Security Bill will require businesses without retirement savings plans to automatically enroll their employees into a state-run individual retirement account beginning in July 2017. Can You Imagine the State of Oregon being in charge of investing Your Hard earned Wages?? The 7 Member Board will seek bids from private sector fund managers, much like is done for the state’s 529 College Savings Plans (remember the hit we took on that one?). This plan approved by the state faces several major issues, one being its high cost to our state. There are thousands of programs already available to Oregon workers. The problem is that people don’t have enough discretionary income to feel comfortable setting aside money for retirement. This State program besides taking aother 3 percent payroll deduction from workers, also prohibits employers from matching the contributions.

US Forest Service is Spending $10 Million per Day on Oregon Wildfires

Think of how well off Oregonians might have been if we’d simply better managed the forests, productively and sustainably using them for job creation. Instead of spending tax dollars to fight fires, we’d be collecting tax revenues that would be going into our roads and schools. There’s also a significant environmental effect from millions of acres on fire. Carbon emission from a forest fire is not insignificant, and with over a million acres affected in Oregon and Washington, the air quality in the Northwest has most certainly been compromised. We’d be much better off with long-term, family wage jobs in the forest rather than short-term jobs fighting fires. When the forest service budget has tipped to a point where 52% of the budget is being spent on fire suppression, we have a real problem that must be resolved.

The Oregonian is reporting a $1.7B PERS Cost Increase Next Year!!

The Oregonian is reporting a $1.7B PERS cost increase next year for two reasons – the actuary is anticipating less returns and has re-calculated longevity of retirees; and then the other factor being the State Supreme Court overturning legislative attempts at reforms. But other non-PERS hits are coming to the budget too. Our Oregon, the campaign arm of the public employee unions simply wants to raise taxes, believing we should tax our way out of this. With nearly $70 BILLION in all-funds, I think our problem lies in overspending and poor budgetary management on the part of the executive branch, and over-promising by legislative leadership to groups that fund their campaigns. Any way you slice it, we have real problems going into the 2017-19 biennium, and my opponent does not seem very interested in taking practical steps to fixing the problems. Remember this when the North Clackamas School District hits you up for a $100,000 Million Dollar Bond in November 2016!!
